This one page tutorial with step by step instructions and photos will teach you to create a fabric backed, cardboard, pleater board. We often use this in our costuming work to create beautiful pleated trims using chiffon or soft organza.
Some of the things we have made using a pleater board: pleated centre front panels on ballet bodices, faux chemise trim, pleated arm drapes or puffs, pleated chiffon draped over the bust panel on a ballet bodice, embellishments on tutu plates.... See the attached photos for some examples of pleating using this board. It is such a useful tool and can be made in different sizes according to the finished effect that you are wanting.
