About Us

Tutu Couture and Stagewear was founded by Australian Designer,Tutu Specialist and Costume Creator, Anne Tytherleigh.

Over the last 20 years Anne has developed a leading bespoke tutu practice. Her designs and costumes have been used in performances in Europe, America as well as Australia and New Zealand.

Anne studied fashion in Australia and Japan. She has diverse qualifications and training in Fashion Design, Pattern Making, Tutu Construction, Fashion Illustration, Japanese textile dying, Make-Up and Music. She was the recipient of four awards from the Dean of Arts and Design whilst studying a degree in Fashion from the University of Canberra.

Anne’s work can be seen in the productions of the Queensland Ballet and in the elite ballet competitions across the globe. Anne has been privileged to work with many wonderful emerging dancers who have worn her Tutus at the Prix De Lausanne in Switzerland and Youth America Grand Prix Finals in New York.

She is currently the Tutu Specialist for the Queensland Ballet Company while also managing her own business, Tutu Couture and Stagewear simultaneously. This dual role of Tutu Specialist and business owner has allowed Anne the opportunity to not only construct and maintain beautiful tutus for this highly regarded company, but also the chance to work on and study costumes from ballet companies all over the world.

Anne’s vision is to combine innovation and creativity with attention to detail, to create unique, stunningly beautiful couture costumes of the highest quality.

She is keen to share this passion with fellow tutu lovers!
